Club Choiseul Arica | Towards a more prosperous West Africa
On Friday, June 14, 2024, the Club Choiseul Africa organized a breakfast in Paris, bringing together influential personalities to discuss development prospects in West Africa in a crucial electoral context.
This club was held around the intervention of eminent personalities: Andriantsimbazovina Joel, Director of the Doctoral School of Law and Political Science at Université Toulouse Capitole, member of the editorial board of the journal Droit et Politique en Afrique, Christian Yoka, Director of the Africa Department at AFD – Agence Française de Développement, Ingrid ETOKE, Program Administrator for Health Investments at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Malick Diawara, Director of TradeContinentsAfrica, ex former editorial manager at Le Point Afrique.
Economic forecasts for West Africa are encouraging, with expected growth of 3.7% in 2024 and 4.2% in 2025-26. This stability is essential after years of challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 2024 elections in Senegal, Togo, Mauritania and Ghana are seen as an opportunity to strengthen democracy and further stabilize the region
The event provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen political and institutional stability in order to create an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth and renewed international investment.
